Varicose Veins

ReThink Varicose VeinsMany people consider varicose veins to be simply a cosmetic issue, so they delay treatment or avoid it completely. The truth is, untreated varicose veins can progress to a more serious form of vein (venous) disease called chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), which can present more serious signs and symptoms such as pain, ankle swelling, fatigue of the legs, skin damage and ulcers.

That’s why a coalition of medical societies is coming together for the ReThink Varicose Veins campaign to encourage the more than 30 million Americans with venous disease, including varicose veins and CVI, to learn more and see a vein specialist for diagnosis and treatment. Fortunately, several minimally-invasive treatment options are available that are covered by many insurance plans.

On www.ReThinkVaricoseVeins.com, you can learn more, take a self-assessment, find a vein specialist and spread the word to friends and loved ones.

What You Can Do:

1) Take a self-assessment: Use the quick self-assessment tool

2) Find a vein specialist: If your assessment shows you might be at risk for varicose veins or CVI, find a specialist at ReThink Varicose Veins to discuss diagnosis and treatment.

3) Understand treatment options: There are minimally invasive treatment options covered by many insurance plans that allow for a short, comfortable recovery; learn more at ReThink Varicose Veins

4) Spread the word: Even if you don’t suffer from varicose veins, your friends and loved ones may not know their risks; share the message on your Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites.

The oldest and most common treatment for spider veins on the legs is sclerotherapy. This involves injection of a sclerosing agent into the veins, which irritates the vessels, causing them to scar and become less noticeable. Some surgeons use a concentrated (hypertonic) saline solution, while others use different sclerosing agents.

  2. This article provides lots of useful information. I recently underwent varicose veins treatment with great results. Whilst at the clinic I also underwent some other procedures, at the cosmetic surgery in yorkshire.

P.s. I love mayonnaise. I like to mix it with some chopped pickles and a little ketchup to make russian dressing.

Thanks for the compliment. I’m glad your varicose vein treatment and other procedures were successful.

PS: I would call your recipe Thousand Island dressing. I like it, too, but usually use olive oil on my salad.

Sclerotherapy is used to treat varicose veins. tiny injections are made into the veins which then collapse and disappear. If you’re tired of being stuck in capris because of unsightly veins, this is the treatment that will get you happy at the pool again.

This is a great initiative! Many people don’t take varicose veins seriously. My grandmother didn’t either. Eventually it developed into a very severe condition, that limited her ability to move, and she had to hire trained assistance to help her with daily chores. It is paramount that we prevent varicose veins from forming before they become a big issue. Even treating them with laser surgery would have risks. Wearing compression socks, playing sports regularly and getting massages are all excellent options.
